SunWatch Indian Village is a National Historic Landmark where archeological evidence was uncovered confirming the existence of an 800-year-old village built by the Fort Ancient Indians. This historic site reconstructs the village, enabling visitors to experience the feel of a traditional Indian village. A number of programs and tours are offered at the village and a gift shop is located on the premises.
The Memphis Belle was built in 1942 and flew until 1946. The Memphis Belle was a B-17 American Bomber. During combat the plane recorded over 20,000 mi, in which 60 tons of bombs were dropped. No casualties occurred during the flight of the Belle. Today, the bomber stands to remind people of their freedom. The Memphis Belle is now located at the National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton, and in order to view the plane, visitors must register in advance for the Friday Behind the Scenes tour.
The Historic Patterson Homestead features six period rooms that contains antique furniture dating back to the early 1800s. Several original artifacts from the Patterston Homestead are housed in this museum, including the Patterson Family Bible, Portrait of Jefferson Patterson and the Patterson Family Cradle. The facility is also available for rent.
The Dayton Aviation Heritage National Park commemorates Wilbur Wright, Orville Wright and Paul Laurence Dunbar for their invention of powered flight. A restored museum and exhibits relate the tale of flight at the Wright-Dunbar Interpretive Trail Visitor Center and Museum and The Wright Cycle Company building.
